Transportation accident occurred in Waropen waters on Thursday, October 19, 2017. The accident started when the speed boat will depart from Serui on Thursday 19 October 2017 at 3.00 pm to Mamberamo with 12 passangers. At the time of the incident the Sea condition was not good and make the boat speed upside down and drowned in Waropen waters.
As a result of the incident, three passengers reportedly died. On Saturday night three passengers were found by the New Papua Ship that passed in Waropen Waters. The three unfortunate speed boat victims were evacuated to Kaipuri, Kurudu Island. But two of the three victims eventually died after receiving medical assistance at Kaipuri.
Then the other passengers reportedly survived, there were 6 other passengers were rescued by fishermen and evacuated to Kurudu Island.
